The Guide to Early Care and Education Programs in New Haven was developed to help parents with children age 6 weeks to 5 years find a quality program that meets the needs of their family. Programs can have many different names child care, preschool, family childcare, Head Start, and School Readiness to name a few. Some are free, some charge a parent fee and the hours of service vary. The New Haven Early Childhood Council, in partnership with New Haven Public Schools and the City of New Haven, created this Guide to help parents navigate through the terms and the many options available in our city.
